I don't think it does. There's three things you can do when you try to steal. Fail, and get the
 obvious message, basically that's them slapping your hand away. You can get coins or whatever and
 still get caught, I don't think there's a message for that, I could be wrong though. And there's
 you getting away scott free, which gives a message about one minute later.

That's all I know, when you get caught I'd assume it's obviouse, such as them turning and stopping
 you or something like that.
