how bout some new ones?
Heres a couple off hand.

Transportation of small objects from people....

A freeze spell, so the someone can't flee, but can talk and fight with a 65% reduction on there
 stats as there mobility is zero.

Magicical barrier, with varying strengths (which cause varying drain on 'power' by mage) that
 block, from physical attacks to the stonger physical and magical attacks

Elemental spells... (e.g. per GW, though elemental magick would be more difficult to control...
 thus make is so)
